Have you been following what RFK (Robert Kennedy) has been saying about foods? It is pretty scary but from all of my research, I think he is on to something and most of his food discussion is in line with most dentists. He is definitely in line with what I have been talking about for years. That is- “PROCESSED OR ULTRA PROCESSED FOODS ARE POISON AND TOXIC! PLEASE AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!
There is no universal definition of an ultra-processed food, and even experts don’t always agree about which foods count. Under the most commonly used definition, however, ultra-processed foods are those made wholly or largely from SUGARS, oils, starches, and ingredients you wouldn’t find in a standard home kitchen, SUCH AS emulsifiers (SOAPS) and industrial additives. By MY DEFINITION, classic “junk” foods like chips, candy, and soda are ultra-processed—but so are foods such as flavored yogurts, some whole-grain breads, and nondairy milks. In past remarks, Kennedy has called ultra-processed foods “poison,” blamed them for high rates of obesity, and suggested that they are a key driver of the country’s “chronic disease epidemic.”
American kids did not suddenly get fat and lazy,” Kennedy said while discussing obesity. “Something is poisoning them.” Something is causing our children to be sick and much worse than it has ever been. Plenty of studies have linked ultra-processed foods to health problems including cancer, heart disease, stroke, Type 2 diabetes, dementia and mental-health issues. But even some of these studies suggest ultra-processed foods aren’t all the same. One recent study, for example, concluded that eating a diet high in ultra-processed foods raises the risk of dying from heart disease—but only certain foods, including SUGARY drinks, hot dogs, and sausage, seemed to drive that trend. Some of his other takes—that food dyes are unsafe, and have more mainstream approval.
The FDA, while still under the Biden Administration, recently banned a dye used in some candies, sweets, and cereals because it has been linked to cancer in animals. (Some of Kennedy’s specific claims about dyes, including that they cause ADHD, are more controversial but not totally unfounded.) He has also said that eating lots of processed SUGARS contributes to obesity and heart disease, which is supported by science. WHAT ABOUT CAVITIES AND GUM DISEASE?
Kennedy promises to “ban the hundreds of food additives and chemicals that other countries have already prohibited” and “change regulations, research topics, and subsidies to reduce the dominance of ultra-processed food” in the U.S. food supply. He has also said he will remove ultra-processed foods from school cafeterias, work to get dyes out of foods including children’s cereals. In my opinion, if any of these processed foods or additives have any chance at all of doing damage to our children, then lets get rid of them. I want to get rid of them anyway as about 70-80% of processed foods (anything is a container, box, can bottle etc. is processed) contain lots of sugar and as a dentist I hate them.
As I have said a million times-“in 1950 the average American consumed about 2 pounds of SUGAR per year. In 2020 the average American consumes about 200 POUNDS PER YEAR! IN MY OPINION THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT SUGAR and SUGAR HAS BEEN LINKED TO ABOUT 45 DIFFERENT DISEASES!
STATISTICS TO LOOK AT
1. According to the CDC, 50% OF OUR CHILDREN HAVE at least one CHRONIC DISEASE SUCH AS Diabetes.
2. 77% of our children are too ill to serve in the military!
3. 42% of adults have 2 chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes and 12% have 5 Chronic diseases!
4. Prior to 1980 the chronic disease rate was around 10%
5. Young adult cancer is up by 79%!
6. 25% of American women are taking anti-depressants.
7. 40% of American teens are diagnosed with some form of mental health.
8. Half a million children are take SSRI’s (anti depressants).
WHAT IS GOING ON? SOMEONE NEEDS TO FOCUS AND FIND THE PROBLEM!!

SUMMARY-It is obvious to ME that your mouth is the window to your health. In my opinion, we should all focus on our health every day and that includes brushing, flossing, dental cleanings and while we are at it, let’s visit our physician for that annual checkup AND LET’S AVOID PROCESSED FOOD! FOR 2025, let’s also focus on avoiding SUGAR AND PROCESSED FOOD. LET’S EAT HEALTHY. REMEMBER, THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION SAY YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE MORE THAN 6 TEASPOONS OF SUGAR PER DAY. I VOTE FOR 0!
