When I was growing up my mother was always on some kind of a diet trying to lose weight. In today’s world, it seems like everyone is always on a diet. For me, I have been on the PALEO DIET for almost 4 years, and I love it. I think almost everyone should follow some form of Paleo or maybe Mediterranean diet since they make the most sense to me. Mediterranean does not work well for me because it encourages pasta and bread and for me, that will really mess up my digestive system. So, almost every day I’m ready about health and nutrition and this past week I ran into an article “Melt Over 12 Pounds in a Week by Eliminating Just One Ingredient From Your Diet”. Do you really think you can lose 12 pounds in one week by eliminating just one ingredient? What do you think that one ingredient is???

I clicked on the link and sure enough, it was just one ingredient. It was SUGAR! As you know, pretty much all dentists think that sugar is really bad for you. It definitely causes cavities and gum disease (the #1 and #2 diseases in the world) but it is also linked to many other health conditions such as AFIB, cancer, heart attacks, diabetes, etc. In fact, the American Heart Association recommends that no one should consume more than 6 teaspoons of sugar per day. In my opinion, that is way too much. In 1950 the average American consumed about 4 pounds of sugar per year (that is about 108 teaspoons) which is a little over 1 teaspoon per day. Today, the average American consumes almost 200 pounds of sugar per year or about 60 teaspoons of sugar PER DAY!!! THAT’S AVERAGE. So in my opinion, 1 teaspoon of sugar per day is about right.

I thought if I titled my blog “LOSE 12 POUNDS IN A WEEK!” that I would get a lot of people to read the blog. I hope it works. You may not realize it, but I think Americans are in a serious crisis of SUGAR ADDICTION. That is good for the dental business but horrible for the health business in any form. I think it is time for a SUGAR DETOX and apparently, if you follow the advice in this article you could lose 12 pounds in one week, eliminate cavities and gum disease and dramatically cut your risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, cancer, and other serious diseases. So, if losing 12 pounds appeals to you, the side effects of improved oral health and systemic health appeal to me.

Let’s join the team and go on a sugar detox. Since sugar is in about 80% of all packaged food items, it gets a little difficult if you like all the food that comes in cans and packages. Instead, you have to buy everything fresh such as fruits, vegetables along with wild-caught fish, grass-fed meat, and free-range poultry. Basically, that is the PALEO DIET. If you throw in whole grain pasta and bread, then you are Mediterranean diet. By the way, there is no sugar in the PALEO DIET ALLOWED. I suggest that you give this a try. If you lose 12 pounds you will be happy and so will your dentist.

The diet in this article is entitled “STRIKE SUGAR 2.0” and it was created by a nutrition expert named TOSCA RENO. Tosca is a mega-selling author of “THE EAT CLEAN DIET” and she claims that most of us are in the grips of sugar addiction. I completely agree with her. In fact, in my opinion, I think SUGAR is more addictive than cocaine or heroin. I also think that a lot of restaurants and food manufacturers put sugar into their foods to make us crave more and want to come back and eat there again. So, check out Tosca, and let’s all go on a SUGAR STRIKE! NO MORE SUGAR! NO MORE SUGAR!

SUMMARY-one of the best things that you could ever do for yourself is to eliminate sugar from your diet. It causes all kinds of diseases from cavities and gum disease to heart disease and diabetes. Do yourself a really big favor and go on a SUGAR STRIKE and watch the pounds just fall off and watch your health dramatically improve.

RANT AND RAVE-I get so mad at all the companies that put sugar into their packaged products. The other day at the grocery store, I picked up a nice container of Morton’s salt and read the back label. Guess what, there was sugar listed in the ingredients. Of course, they tried to hide the sugar and they called it Dextrose. I actually called the company to complain but they said they used sugar to help prevent clumping. YEAH, RIGHT!
