As we all know, there have been some major changes to the HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES department and I watched an interview with RFK the other day and it was very interesting so I thought I would share some of the things I learned pertaining to Health.
RFK’s report mainly focused on Children’s health and according to him, our children are the unhealthiest children in the world
A much-anticipated report led by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says that children’s health is in crisis in American and that it’s likely the result of ultra processed food (which contains a ton of SUGAR), exposure to chemicals, lack of exercise, stress, and overprescription of drugs. Solutions for this health crisis will be presented in the next 3-4 months. However, for now, this report paints a very BLEAK picture of our children’s health. He says that the children of America today suffer more from chronic diseases such as asthma, allergies, obesity, behavioral disorders and autoimmune conditions than any other previous generation in history. He also reported that the United States spends more on health care (2-3 times more) than all other nations. We actually spend about 4.5 trillion dollars per year and we have the worst health of any developed nation! At the same time, he accused some of America’s iconic food companies of making our kids sick and unhealthy just for profit. In a previous meeting earlier this year he accused FRUIT LOOPS MAKER AND FAST-FOOD CHAIN McDonald’s of mass poisoning American children! He also accused American Drug companies of being the third leading cause of death in the United States. One of my biggest concerns is that I think I see the same thing in adults. In fact, I have been doing an informal study of my patients over age 60 and a huge percentage of those adults, in my opinion, are also being over medicated with 5-10 medicines that they take daily. In my opinion, there is always a cause for unhealthy conditions. Many times, I believe that these conditions are from poor diet or lack of exercise. We all know this, but how many of us make the change. Also, in this report, it says that over 40% of the approximate 73 million children in the US have at least one chronic health condition. To me that is just hard to believe. He also claims that it is related to diet, lack of exercise and over-medication. So, I strongly recommend that as parents we need to step in and focus on the health of our children. Make sure they get exercise instead of video games and make sure that they are NOT EATING ULTRAPROCESSED FOODS. Kenndy also says that he does not eat anything in a container-everything is fresh-sounds like a great idea to me as just about everything in a container of any kind is loaded with SUGAR! Read the label.
So after watching this report I decided to Google what we can do to extend the quality of life ahead of us. Even with the help
- Good oral health like flossing and brushing after every meal could add between 5-10 years to your lifespan.
- Exercise-adults who engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week can add another 5-10 years to your lifespan.
- Diet-there are many kinds of diet, but almost all of them eliminate processed foods, high sugar foods and focus on fresh quality foods. This can add another 5-10 years to your lifespan.
For me, I don’t really care how long I live but I want my time here to be quality. I don’t want someone to changing my diapers or feeding me through a tube. I think if we all focus on the 3 items about we could probably add a good 15 years to our healthspan and our lifespan. Let’s focus on that and I hope RFK can get those over to our children.
SUMMARY-It is obvious to ME that your mouth is the window to your health. In my opinion, we should all focus on our health every day and that includes brushing, flossing, dental cleanings and while we are at it, let’s visit our physician for that annual checkup. And of course, I think you should consider the PALEO DIET. PLEASE READ THE INGREDIENTS ON ANYTHING IN A CONTAINER TO AVOID SUGAR AND PROCESSED FOODS! LET’S EAT HEALTHY. REMEMBER, THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION SAYS YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE MORE THAN 6 TEASPOONS OF SUGAR PER DAY. I VOTE FOR 0! I AM CONSIDERING A BOOT CAMP ON DENTAL HEALTH AND NUTRITION. WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED? PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
