Everyday I read something about the connection between the mouth and the rest of your body or between diet and other health conditions.  Over the weekend I read about a cardiologist (Dr. Rojas) who is warning people about the severe danger of two foods to their overall health and well-being.  He was discussing about increased cancer among younger people which has increased lately by 80%.  He discussed that there are two foods that are a common factor in this increase of cancer.  He stated that this includes all types of cancer such as prostate, colon, pancreatic, breast and that all of these cancers have a common theme or a common factor!  What could that be???

These cancers are associated with increased insulin levels.  The higher levels act as a potent growth factor and stimulate the growth of these cancer cells.  The two most common substances in your diet that disproportionately elevate insulin production are SUGAR AND WHEAT FLOUR!  These two foods are also directly linked to most cardiovascular disease.  In other words, CANCER, HEART ATTACK AND STROKE can be linked to your sugar and wheat consumption!

So, if you remember, one of the reasons I started this blog was in reference to the chest pain I was having about 7 years ago.  It turned out that my pain was coming from my body’s dislike or sensitivity to wheat and corn and dairy (dairy has sugar in it).  One of the big problems is that wheat and corn break down into sugar.  So, at that time, even though I ate a low sugar diet, it was converting to sugar.  Thank goodness I caught it in time.

The bottom line is that SUGAR is a very bad chemical to put into our bodies and it is now even starting to show up in younger people causing an increase in cancer.  Remember, in 1950, the average American consumed about 2 pounds of sugar per year.  In 2020 that consumption is now up to about 200 pounds of sugar per year or an average of about a HALF POUND OF SUGAR PER DAY!!!  It is because sugar is in almost everything that comes in a container!

SUMMARY-It is obvious to ME that your mouth is the window to your health.  In my opinion, we should all focus on our health every day and that includes brushing, flossing, dental cleanings and while we are at it, let’s visit our physician for that annual checkup.  And of course, I think you should consider the PALEO DIET.  The Paleo diet does not allow sugar or wheat so that should help us to avoid cancer and heart disease!  PLEASE READ THE INGREDIENTS ON ANYTHING IN A CONTAINER TO AVOID SUGAR AND PROCESSED FOODS!    LET’S EAT HEALTHY.  REMEMBER, THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION SAYS YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE MORE THAN 6 TEASPOONS OF SUGAR PER DAY.  I VOTE FOR 0!  I AM CONSIDERING A BOOT CAMP ON DENTAL HEALTH AND NUTRITION.  WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED?  PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
