HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.  I HOPE AND PRAY 2025 WILL SURPASS YOUR DREAMS

I read once that only 3% of us write down our goals. It’s the same 3% that are successful. I have been writing my goals down for 60 years so I thought this year I would share some of my formula. We are all different so I hope you can take just one small piece of this information and apply it in your life. To me this is a 6-sided star or 6 points to look at in no particular order!  IS A ROUGH OUTLINE for my 2025.  I hope it gives you some inspiration.

  1. LOVE-We all need love in our life. Without it, life can be lonely and depressing. Find the people you love and nourish them and it will improve your life and theirs.
  2. WORK-can bring meaning to your life. If it doesn’t, maybe you need to change careers or companies or start your own business. Work needs to be fun and that’s why I’m still working.  If you love it, it adds value to life.
  3. WORSHIP-without worship you tend to focus more on possessions. We all need worship to get through all the trials and tribulations of life. Without it life often seems miserable. My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:6 Living Bible version “WORRY ABOUT NOTHING AND PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING”. Also listen to Alan Jackson’s song “The Older I Get”.
  4. PLAY-in my younger year’s life was more about work and productivity than it was about Play. I felt pressure to provide. Now the more play I have the more productive I am. What do YOU do to play-travel, sports, work, time with grandkids-FIND YOUR PLAY and do it!
  5. FINANCE– this is different for everyone depending on age and goals but if you ignore it there will be grief to pay. You must have a budget and live by it or suffer the consequences.
  6. HEALTH-without your health you have nothing and lying in bed with someone changing my diapers is not on my list. If you ignore your health, it will go away. Out of the 6 items listed here, this is the most complicated and there is no formula that fits all. So, I have EIGHT (8) pillars to focus on. Please look these over and make them fit.  I actually believe that you don’t have a choice-ignoring them will probably lead to poor health and a miserable END.
    1. Diet-Paleo-There are many good diets, and you need to find one that will work for you. I believe that most of the Paleo diet is healthy for most people, but we are all different.  The Paleo diet does not allow Sugar, processed foods, grains (like bread and crackers), and diary.  I feel so much better when I stick to this type of lifestyle.  Been rough during the holidays. When I cheat, I can feel it.
    2. Exercise-without this I believe you will shorten your life by about 10 years. Pick your type, but in my opinion, you need at least 150 minutes of aerobic exercise such as walking or swimming etc.  You also need to go to the gym for strength training to help your body avoid falls and broken bones etc.  It will add bone density and improve blood flow.  Recently I read that if you walk 10 flights of stairs it is equal to 30 minutes on the treadmill, so I have added this to my regimen.  I now walk 21 flights of stairs 3 times per week.
    3. Sleep-this allows your body to rest and rebuild and the older you get the more important it becomes. Try hard to get 7-9 hours per night.
    4. Find your tribe-We all have friends and relatives that are important in our lives. Research shows that this relationship is very important.  Nurture it daily.
    5. Eliminate Stress-stress is well proven to cause lots of damage to your health. There are some forms of stress that can be helpful, but I just recommend that you chill out and relax.  Back to my favorite Bible verse “WORRY ABOUT NOTHING AND PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING.”
    6. Supplements-this can be stressful in itself. I have spent years trying to figure out what I need to take.  In my opinion, most people do not eat a balanced diet without all the junk and chemicals and also our farming soil is very depleted of its minerals, so I doubt most of us get all the vitamins and minerals that we need on a daily basis.  I suggest you visit a dietician or nutritionist and find something that works for
    7. Preventive dentistry (floss, brush, regular dental checkups) -as gum disease and an unhealthy mouth can be linked to about 45 diseases such as heart attack/stroke/diabetes/cancer/Alzheimer’s/infections of many kinds etc.  I think the MOUTH IS THE WINDOW TO YOUR HEALTH.  Most of my patients that have an unhealthy mouth also have other health issues.  Dr Charles once said that “PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY CAN ADD 10 YEARS TO YOUR LIFE”-I AGREE.
    8. Preventive medicine- it is much cheaper and easier to prevent than to treat- in my opinion most physicians are not focused on prevention. If you are having health problems then ask your physician WHY? Consider reading these 2 books-“CRAZY GOOD LIVING” by Dr. Al Danenberg and “FOREVER YOUNG” by Dr. Mark Hyman. As I said in the beginning, there is not one formula for everyone but if you follow these 8 points, I think the quality of your life will be way ahead than if you do nothing.

SUMMARY-It is obvious to ME that your mouth is the window to your health.  In my opinion, we should all focus on our health every day and that includes brushing, flossing, dental cleanings and while we are at it, lets visit our physician for that annual checkup!  So for 2025, let’s also focus on avoiding SUGAR AND PROCESSED FOOD.  LET’S EAT HEALTHY.  What do you think?
